Founders

Neighborland was founded by Dan Parham, Tee Parham, and Candy Chang in New Orleans. We’re a distributed team with designers, engineers, and facilitators in Boulder, San Francisco, New York, and Raleigh.

Dan Parham is our CEO and Head of Product at Neighborland. He has led all 200 of our partnerships to date. Dan was formerly a Director of User Experience at Yahoo.

Tee Parham is our CTO and Head of Engineering. Tee has built software and advised companies on technology for over 10 years. He has led development efforts on a variety of platforms and managed a consulting business in Boulder, CO since 2002. Tee also leads the RGeo open source project.

Candy Chang is a co-founder and advisor to Neighborland. Through the activation of public spaces around the world, she provokes playful and profound visions for how we can connect, reflect, and cultivate the health of our communities. As an urban planner, Candy played an instrumental role in the development of our platform. Learn more about Candy’s work here.

Investors and advisors

We developed Neighborland with the generous support of Tulane’s Social Entrepreneurship Program and the Rockefeller Foundation in New Orleans in 2011. In 2012, we raised a seed investment with Toni Schneider and Christiaan Vorkink from True Ventures; Evan Williams, Biz Stone, and Jason Goldman; Ken Lerer at Lerer Hippeau Ventures; Topher Conway at SV Angel; Patrick Gallagher at Tuesday; and Chris Schultz at Voodoo Ventures. And we deeply appreciate our advisors who include Stephen DeBerry, Ophelia Basgal, Alex Rainert, Designer Fund, Matt Muñoz, and 100 Resilient Cities.

Staff and volunteers

We work with freelance account managers, workshop facilitators, social media managers, and content creators who help us support our 200+ partners on the Neighborland platform.

Over the past five years we’ve worked with some amazing people including Scott Jacobsen, Chris Palmatier, Alan Williams, Tom Kolbeck, Jon Axtell, Frank Campanella, Rob Chappell, Meli Burgueño, Brendan Crain, Ellen Black, Matthew Hall, Earl Carlson, Kelci Hight, and Katherine McCracken.
