Good news! The RTA has now released their route and schedule data. Whether you are a professional developer, a part-time hacker, or just a curious party, you can go straight to the RTA’s website and subscribe to their GTFS feed.
Now, their feed doesn’t include real-time data yet, but this is another milestone on the road to realizing a full-fledged open data policy. Praise and congratulations are in order for everybody at the RTA that has worked to make this change a reality.
If you’re interested in accessing the data, just follow these five easy steps:
1. Go to www.norta.com
2. Set up a MyRTA account
3. Choose Data Subscription
4. Agree to License Agreement
5. Read the download instructions
Many thanks to Transport for NOLA for sharing the news. We can’t wait until designers and developers near and far start to create products that make using the bus and streetcar easier. Making this more information more accessible is going to have a tangible impact on the lives of thousands of people.
Let’s get to work!
